| PLASTIC
LENSES are by far the most popular choice of lens
material. They are considerably lighter than glass lenses
and safer, as they are far less likely to break or
shatter. Price GLASS LENSES are still available but are certainly not as popular as plastic lenses. But in some situations, like certain working conditions, glass lenses are a better choice. POLYCARBONATE lenses are an ideal choice for sports use such as squash or cricket as they are approximately ten times stronger than plastic lenses and virtually unbreakable. Price |

| AIRWEAR
lenses are made of polycarbonate and are also thinner and
lighter than standard plastic, a good choice for modern
rimless frames to provide extra durability and to achieve
the lightweight minimalist look. Price SCRATCH RESISTANT COATINGS can prolong the life of your plastic lenses, as they can scratch more easily than glass lenses. A scratch resistant coating can offer up to six times more protection against scratches so they stay clearer for longer. Price |

| ANTI-REFLECTION
COATINGS eliminate virtually all distracting
reflections on the surface of the lens so your vision is
better, plus people can see your eyes more clearly as
there are no distracting reflections to get in the way of
direct eye contact. The anti-reflection coating is a
popular choice for drivers as it reduces headlight glare
when driving at night. The elimination of reflections is
also particularly useful for VDU users providing clearer,
sharper vision. The anti-reflection coating is
combined with a scratch resistant coating known as UTMC (Ultra
Tough Multi Coat) to give optimum performance and
durability. TINTS are an effective method of reducing the
amount of light reaching the eye to make vision more
comfortable. Available in a choice of both colour and
depth. Price

| PHOTOCHROMIC LENSES darken according to the amount of sunlight so comfortable vision can be enjoyed both outdoors and in, ideal if you are sensitive to bright light. Originally made of glass, the latest "next generation" photochromic lenses are made of lightweight "Transitions" plastic and are lighter indoors, darker outdoors, and even faster changing than before. MID-INDEX LENSES like SOLA SPECTRALITE lenses are thinner and flatter than standard plastic lenses so are lighter in weight and easier to wear. Price | ![]() |
| HI-INDEX
LENSES are an excellent choice for those with a
high power prescription. Even thinner and lighter than
mid-index lenses means that you no longer have to put up
with unsightly thick lenses or have your choice of frames
restricted. These lenses are automatically produced with
an anti-reflection coating to achieve optimum results. Ultra thin
1.74 available in certain prescriptions. Price SINGLE VISION LENSES are the same strength across the whole lens and are used to correct short-sight, long-sight and astigmatism. But as you grow older focusing on near objects can become more difficult in which case "reading" spectacles will be needed. These can be in the form of single vision lenses solely for close work, bifocals or varifocals. Price BIFOCAL LENSES offer correction for both distance and near vision. The lens is divided into two with the reading portion at the bottom of the lens. Price VARIFOCAL LENSES gradually change in power from the top of the lens used for distance vision to the lower part of the lens for reading, with the ability to focus in between for intermediate use. They look like single vision lenses as there is no dividing line and the sudden jump from distance to reading is eliminated. Price |
