Choosing the right lenses is critical to your visual health, and your spectacles are not complete without anti-reflective lenses. Anti-reflective lenses are recommended for all ages and provide all the benefits such as:
- Safer, more comfortable night-time driving due to reduced glare
- Clean, clear, and virtually invisible to those around you
- Fewer headaches and less eye fatigue (often caused by reflections from computer screens and daytime lights)
No lenses, not even glass lenses are scratch-proof. However, lenses that are treated front and back with a clear, scratch-resistant coating have a much harder surface that is more resistant to scratching. This means they're more likely to withstand being dropped on the floor, making them perfect for kids' glasses. Most eyeglass lenses, including high-index lenses and lenses made of polycarbonate and Trivex™, have a built-in scratch-resistant coating. Just let us know if you want our opticians to include this hard coating for extra durability on the glasses you choose.
Bifocal lenses are prescribed for people with Presbyopia – the diminished ability to focus on objects close by, a common issue in those over the age of 40. These lenses have two different prescriptions across the lens. They provide distance and near vision in one lens; the near vision correction of the lens is contained in a segment, often visible on the front of the lens. This segment provides the extra power necessary for you to read clearly.
